Ricky started dancing in school and began performing weekends at the age of 12 as Rickey Conlan. Immediately after graduating high school, he was drafted into the US Arm where he served as a surgical tech AND organized entertainment for the injured and performed with the USO.
In 1949, he opened Richard’s School of the Dance in Oshkosh, WI, where he taught dance for 60 years. Ricky was honored with many lifetime achievement awards and held fond memories of the friends he made through dance including with such icons as Donald O’Connor, Bob Hope, Tony Bennett, and Gene and Fred Kelly.
Ricky was a much loved member of the CNADM, where he remained an active member until his retirement. The smile and enthusiasm of “Mr Tap” will be remembered by all those lucky enough to work with him.
