M.A.D.D. Rhythms

MaddRythymPhotoM.A.D.D. RHYTHMS is a phenomenal TAPdance collective whose “SOLE” purpose is to spread the Love and Joy of TAP worldwide. What started as Bril Barrett’s formula for giving back, is now a full-fledged performing arts company, quickly gaining a reputation for representing the true essence of tap: RHYTHM! The company is composed of young, versatile tap dancers from all over Chicago. Their ages range from 18 to 33, and their backgrounds are as equally diverse. The one thing they all have in common is a love for “the dance”.

M.A.D.D. RHYTHMS’ performance opportunities, in short, have included: Dance Africa Chicago, Dance Chicago, The Stars of “Dance Chicago” in Istanbul, Turkey, M.A.D.D. Rhythms Canada’s “Release Yourself” and “Great Feets of Rhythm”, Downbeats Canada’s “Embrace the Rhythm”, Miami’s Art-Deco Festival, An Expo for Today’s Black Woman, Kwanzaa Festival, The African Festival of the Arts, St. Louis Tap Festival, Boys and Girl’s Clubs National Conference, the Chicago Historical Society’s Summer Performance Series, and DuSable Museum’s educational theatre series. The company has been featured on the Steve Harvey Show and performed at United Center, MGM Grand and Kennedy Center. They have also produced 9 full-length productions, created The Chicago Tap Summit and educated over 200 students via The M.A.D.D. Rhythms Tap Academy.

In an effort to continuously give back to their communities they have also worked with many public and private schools, and volunteered performances for various community affiliated organizations including A.C.E.S. (Athletes Committed to Educating Students), Children Affected by AIDS Foundation, Nikola Tesla Alternative High School for Girls, TCA Health and Nutrition Fair, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Rainbow House.


C5 is a Chicago based company with installations around the world. C5’s unique brand of artistry combines the athleticism of aerial work with the grace, skill, and technique of aerial dance. C5 has trained hundreds of performers from around the world in aerial dance. C5 founder and artistic director Jeremy Plummer is a renowned choreographer and director with production shows, aerial shows and water- theater shows currently playing. C5 has been featured at several corporate events, private events, in addition to recently appearing at the International Balloon Competition in Michigan. They have made appearances at Super Bowls, cruise ship launches, and have become a staple of Chicago’s Dance for Life, an AIDS benefit featuring Chicago’s top dance companies. C5 has conceived and oversees all the flying for the leader in cruise ship entertainment, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. C5 is moving into their third year at their new Chicago space and home where dancers come from all over the world to train.

Inaside Chicago Dance

Founded in the fall of 2003, Inaside Chicago Dance is a not-for-profit jazz dance company that builds off the foundations of the art form, while leading the way for contemporary jazz dance in the present and future. New Artistic Director Richard Smith, and Associate Artistic Director Robert McKee, strive to make Inaside a supreme outlet of artistry, knowledge, and growth for each dancer and choreographer who comes through the company. Inaside employs a highly-trained, diverse ensemble of male and female dancers, as well as instructors from across the US and InasideChicagovarious cultural backgrounds. The company's repertoire has evolved since its inception with works from diverse choreographers ranging the spectrum of jazz. Known for their highly entertaining annual performances, Inaside Dance Project, Inaside Dance promotes excellence in the performing arts on and off the stage. The ideals of integrity, passion, and pride allow Inaside to advance innovative artistry through choreography, performances, and educational programs; and heighten the state of the art within the Midwest.
