Glenn Leslie is an Emmy Award-winning dancer who danced with Chicago-based Jump Rhythm Jazz Project (Billy Siegenfeld artistic director) for 10 years. He has worked professionally in musical theatre for many years and has been apart of summer stock, regional, cabaret, dinner theaters, and international tours of Europe. Glenn has been on the faculty of Dance Center Evanston since 1999 and has appeared in many Evanston Dance Ensemble productions. His dance training includes conventional studies of tap, jazz, modern and ballet, and studied with Billy Siegenfeld and JRJP, focusing on Siegenfeld’s gravity-directed body-healthy approach to physical movement (Standing Down Straight®). In 2009 Glenn established Classic Jazz & Tap Productions, with the intent to honor, preserve, and promote the timeless (classic) traditions of jazz and tap dance and to apply those traditions in telling stories for our contemporary world. Glenn’s most recent multi-year project has been to study and translate to live performance many classic dances performed in Hollywood musicals by Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly, focusing on the core choreography, and to share that wonderful choreography with students and professionals in classes and in the evening-length concert program, Renditions.
